A Specialist Mechanic Insurance Broker

We are brokers, not an insurer and not a comparison form. You engage us, we structure the cover around how your workshop actually runs, and when a claim comes we are the ones dealing with it.

The difference

Broker, insurer, comparison site: what actually differs

A broker acts for you

An insurer's representative acts for the insurer. A broker is engaged by you, which matters most at claim time, when the two sides of that arrangement stop being an abstraction.

Motor trade wordings are their own thing

Road risk, garage keeper's liability, tools and stock in trade, customers' vehicles in your care. General business policies handle these badly or not at all, and the gaps rarely show up until a claim is declined.

The cover is structured, not selected

A comparison form asks what you want and gives you a list. A broker asks how your workshop runs, who drives what, and what sits on your hoists overnight, then builds the cover around the answers.

Somebody handles the claim

This is the part most people only value once. When something goes wrong you ring us, not a queue, and we deal with the insurer and the assessor on your behalf.

When a broker is worth it

Not every business needs one. If any of these describe your workshop, the exposure is more complicated than a standard form can capture.

  • You hold customers' vehicles, keys or stock, so the exposure is not just your own property
  • You road test, deliver, or move vehicles that are not yours
  • You employ staff or take on apprentices
  • You are mobile, or you work across more than one site
  • You have been quoted something that felt wrong and could not tell whether it was
  • You have had a claim declined and want to know why before it happens again

Not sure? Ring and ask. If your current cover is fine we will tell you that, and if it has a gap you will know where it is. See the cover types we arrange or read our Financial Services Guide.

Common questions

A broker is engaged by you rather than by an insurer. We work out what your workshop is exposed to, arrange cover through insurers that write motor trade risks, explain what the policy does and does not respond to, and handle the claim if one comes. The insurer still underwrites the policy and decides claims; our job is to make sure the cover fits and to act for you throughout.
