Financial Services Guide

A Financial Services Guide (FSG) explains the financial services provided, how those providing the service are paid, and how any complaints are handled. It is designed to help you decide whether to use the services offered.

Mechanics Insurance is a trading name of GeePeeVee Pty Ltd, which also trades as Grace Insurance. GeePeeVee Pty Ltd is a Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR 1008568) of Community Broker Network Pty Ltd (AFSL 233750). The financial services offered are provided under that licensee's Australian Financial Services Licence.

Our Statement of Services

As your insurance broker, we can provide you with the following services:

  • Help you identify and assess your risks and develop a proposal to submit to potential insurers.
  • Advise and make recommendations as to your insurance requirements.
  • Conduct a needs assessment based on our industry knowledge and provide details of it, so you can make an informed decision.
  • Prepare underwriting submissions and contact you with our recommendations.
  • Negotiate terms with any existing insurers and with alternative insurers.
  • Place the insurances agreed upon and confirm the placement and renewal to you.
  • Review policy wordings and obtain signed policies from insurers.
  • Calculate, invoice and collect the premiums, and adjust premiums on prior year policies.
  • Review your insurance arrangements when your circumstances materially change, at scheduled reviews, and upon renewal.
  • Facilitate policy changes and cancellations as per your instructions.
  • If required, assist you with any insurance premium funding needs.

If you need to make a claim

If required, we will assist you to manage any claims you may need to make. As part of that, we will:

  • Keep you informed in a timely manner on the progress of any claim.
  • Notify you of the outcome as soon as practical once the insurer responds.
  • Act as your claims advocate if a claim is unreasonably denied or reduced.
  • Advise you if the insurer seeks to negotiate a settlement, and seek your instructions before agreeing to any settlement or compromise.
  • Explain the reasons if a claim is declined and outline the further steps available, including how to make a complaint.

Renewals

On renewal we will take reasonable steps to contact you at least fourteen (14) days before your cover expiry date to discuss the next steps. We will take appropriate, professional and timely steps to seek insurance terms and advise you of the available options for your consideration. At renewal we may not seek alternative quotes where our assessment of your current programme and the market indicates it is not necessary.
